Patient Experiences
Examples of patient letters:
Dear Dr. Black, Valerie and staff,
I just wanted to send a note to Thank all of
you for the patience, care, understanding and “moral support” you
have given to me throughout my DIEP surgery process so far. As you
might have guessed, I was petrified and worried I would have yet
another “surgery failure.” All of you put those fears to rest and
made it much easier for me to make my decision to have the surgery.
It was definitely the right decision!!!
Also, Valerie, without all of your
reassurances and most importantly help with the insurance process, I
might have not had the surgery because of financial reasons. Thank
you so much, without your help I’m sure the financial outcome would
have been much different. Thank you, Thank you!!!
Lastly, Dr. Black, to just say Thank You
doesn’t seem like enough to express how I feel. My reconstruction
result is by far so much better than what it was when I first came
to you for my consultation. I know it will only improve with the
revision surgery. I also have to say, you are truly the most
compassionate Doctor I have met since I got breast cancer 15 years
ago. It’s very obvious how much you care about your patients and in
the hospital it was very obvious how much you are respected. I hope
you realize the magnitude of what you are doing to help us women who
have suffered with the results of mastectomies and feel so helpless,
and at times, hopeless. Your patience, understanding and genuine
compassion is appreciated more than you may ever know. Thank you so
very much.
Sincerely, GJ
Dr. Jay [Granzow] I don't know if you realize
it, but you are an incredible doctor. This is not stated with
the intention of flattery or exaggeration. It is a fact.
Your very talented surgical skills combined with the abundant
amounts of compassion and care that you gave to me enabled the
entire experience to progress very smoothly and positively. I
know that many of these qualities that you possess are something
that cannot be taught but come from within. You are a
wonderful person.
I just wanted to express to you how much I
appreciate the fact that you helped my life go from having the
emotional and physical trauma of breast cancer to one of pure joy
and success. For these reasons I send you my deepest gratitude
and appreciation for making the quality of my life better that what
I could have ever wishes for.
Aloha hui loa, MK
